The attachment to the cause of the Stewarts had led to the loss of Fingask, and it would appear that the family now transferred their loyalty to the reigning family. In the service of the Duke of Cumberland, Laurence Dundas amassed a fortune, which ultimately raised this younger branch of the Fingask family to the peerage. Laurence Dundas' son, Thomas, was created Baron Dundas in 1794, and his son and successor, Laurence, was created Earl of Zetland in 1838 .
Laurence was created a Baronet in 1762

Piedmont Church Wedding Scene

The Piedmont Interdenominational church was the scene this morning of a quiet wedding, when Miss Margaret Sandow. daughter of Dr. and Mrs. K. F. Sandow of Berkeley, became the bride of Lawrence Dundas of Edinburgh, Scotland. Rev. C. D. Milliken read the service in the presence of members of the two families and a few intimate friends. The bride was attended by her  sister, Miss  Rena Sandow as maid of honour and Fred Flowers of Los Angeles came north to be the best man for Mr Dundas. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast, was served for the bridal party at the Hotel Oakland, and Mr. and Mrs. Dundas left by motor for a honeymoon trip in the southern part of the state. Later they will return here to sail from San Francisco on February 26 for Europe, via the Panama Canal. They will make a stay of  indefinate length in England and with the bridegroom's relatives in Scotland.
